I’m going to be brief and blunt about this. The Quietus is in trouble.
For those who don’t know, The Quietus is perhaps the best outlet around for music, be it reviews, features, or commentary. Editor John Doran is an incredible writer (and a super kind and patient editor) and, as lots of businesses are these days, is struggling with keeping The Quietus afloat. They do a subscription model for their best writing (I refuse to call it content) and their regular podcast that’s built into three tiers, and John has put a discount on two of those too. They need a minimum of 350 new subscribers to keep above the water, and they deserve to have those.
It’s no secret that I have written features for them and my regular Moviedrone column, although unfortunately, the film section has had to be shut down due to the cost issue. I have unending thanks for John, co-editor Luke Turner, and film editor Ella Kemp for dealing with me, especially as I can be a pain in the ass, and for letting me have such an important outlet on my CV. You can read all of my rubbish here, although don’t hold that against them when you go to check the whole place out; it’s full of fantastic writers with a sense of thought and scope that puts many places to shame.
But please, if you can, go here and subscribe. Tell your friends too, this website needs everyone’s help. Thanks.
